A number of new highlights of the Revised Penal Code 2017
On June 20, 2017, at the 3rd session of the XIV National Assembly, passed Law No. 12/2017 / QH14 on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Criminal Code 2015 (hereinafter referred to as the Code Criminal amendment 2017).
In particular, the amended Penal Code 2017 has some outstanding new points as follows:
- Persons who do not denounce as defense counsel shall not be liable for criminal charges for not denouncing criminals, except in the following cases:
+ Crimes prescribed in Chapter XIII (Crimes of infringing upon national security); or
+ Other crimes are particularly serious crimes committed by the people they defend, who are preparing or performing, and the defenders know well when making the defense.
- Supplementing Article 217a with regulations on Crime of violating regulations on business by multi-level method.
- Abolish Article 292 on Crime of providing illegal services on computer networks and telecommunications networks.
The amended Penal Code 2017 takes effect from January 1, 2018.
